I updated NTSC wii with PAL game?

I accidentally got a PAL Blackops wii game. And just to make sure, PAL means it's european right? well, when i inserted the disk into my NTSC wii, it asked me to update the wii system, so i did. When it said it finished downloading(the loading bar didn't even go all the way...), the wii said the game couldn't be read. And then when i tried going to wii settings, it popped up an error. I got homebrew and i was wondering if i can fix it any way. I think it's semi-bricked.
